Dr. Oscar Ingasia Ayuya is a Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MEAL) consultant with over 14 years of experience, holding a PhD in Agricultural Economics. His research interests span the role of market innovation in inclusive and sustainable smallholder agriculture, transitioning agri-food systems in sub-Sahara Africa, agri-value chains development, sustainable rural development and livelihoods assessment. Dr. Ayuya has provided consulting services to international development organizations, national institutions and agencies of governments in several African Countries and the engagements in the context of market-led innovations/ interventions. Some organizations include Kenya Red Cross, International Potato Centre, Solidaridad Eastern and Central Africa, ACDI/VOCA, Hand in Hand East Africa, AU-IBAR, IGAD, Wageningen University & Research, ILRI, NETFUND, Women’s World Banking, CIAT Rwanda, County and national Governments, among others. Dr. Ayuya’s skills sets include designing and conducting research surveys using various methodologies and approaches like Utility Focused Evaluations (UFE), outcome mapping, contribution analysis, most significant change, OECD DAC Evaluation Criteria, outcome harvesting, randomised control trials, qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods, etc. He has experience and skills in leading and managing teams to design and conduct research and evaluations. He is knowledgeable in designing data collection tools and data management protocols, including managing field operations, data cleaning and analysis using statistical software such as N-vivo, SPSS, Stata and Limdep. Dr. Ayuya is adept at applying mobile data collection systems involving Census and Survey Processing System (CSPro), Open Data Kit (ODK), Survey CTO and KoboToolbox platforms.
